What do you get if you take Twelve Monkeys, subtract Brad Pitt and nine of the monkeys, and substitute Turkish for the English? Three Monkeys, of course, the latest film by Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan. And where can you see this picture, which involves a love triangle and won the Best Director Award at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival? Why, at Modern Cinema 2009, duh! The festival takes place Thursday through Sunday at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St., and features eight "great movies you haven't heard of...yet," plus one surprise film, to be announced at a later date. Featured films include The Boys Are Back, which involves Clive Owen and Sigur Ros; Precious, which is about a pregnant 16-year-old; No Impact Man, a documentary about a man's journey to become green; Red Riding:1974, a British film inspired by the Yorkshire Ripper; An Education, the breakout hit at Sundance; and Don't Let Me Drown, a romance about dating someone of a different ethnicity. That's a lot of stuff, people. Individual tickets are $8.50 and can be purchased beginning two hours before each show, or festival passes are $60.
