The North Texas Beer Festival isn’t just an educational opportunity to sample from more than 100 craft and import beers. The three-day event is also an opportunity to explore the Great White North, as each part of the festival takes place in a different suburb north of Dallas. The fest launches at 7 p.m. Friday with the Sunset Brews Cruise at the Pier 121 Marina in Lewisville (1481 E. Park Hill Road), where participants can eat and lift pints with brewers and brewery reps as part of the $119 VIP ExBEERience package. Drinkers shying away from that price tag (or the thought of mixing seasickness with beer burps) can wait until 1 to 11 p.m. the following day for the main part of the festival featuring homebrewing classes, demonstrations, music and tastings at the Plano Centre, 2000 E. Spring Creek Parkway. Entrance is $30 and includes 12 2-ounce beer samples, plus the opportunity to buy a dozen more samples for $10 or beer by the glass. End the weekend in scenic Allen with the Top It Off Charity Golf Tournament ($95 per person benefiting the Good Samaritan Inn) 3 p.m. Sunday at Top Golf, 1500 Allen Station Parkway. Tickets and more information are at northtexasbeerfestival.com.
