Not too long ago, we shared with you the list of area acts set to perform at this year's annual South by Southwest Music Conference. Now we not only know the "who," but also the "when." Last week, the folks at SXSW released their preliminary show scheduled.

And, for North Texas, this very much get started early, with nine area-tied acts slated to perform the opening day of the festival, Wednesday, March 16. Included in that set: Popular Fort Worth septet, Telegraph Canyon, which is returning to the festival for the third year running. Coming off the success of their latest album, The Tide and the Current, a successful European tour, and scoring some choice opening gigs for noteworthy bands such as Broken Social Scene, Telegraph Canyon, we have no doubt, will be laying down the charm in Austin with their unique brand of experimental folk.

Meanwhile, Friday night, always a big deal at SXSW, will see the once-Denton-and-now-Brooklyn-based, soul-inspired Fergus & Geronimo returning to Texas. The band released their much-anticipated debut album, Unlearn, last month.
