If you’ve been to the Dallas Zoo lately, you’ve likely noticed that it’s a heckuva lot better than it has been in years past, and much of that success can be attributed to its privatization in October 2009 and fund-raising efforts like the annual Zoo to Do. Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Zoo to Do event features the Emerald City Band — an energetic 14-piece, four-horn group that covers tunes from Frank Sinatra to Snoop Dogg — and food from some of the city’s best restaurants such as Bolsa, Fearing’s Restaurant and Nick & Sam’s Steakhouse. There’s also an impressive list of items to bid on, including a trip to Mozambique and city safari with “Jungle Jack” Hanna. Stop by from 5 to 11 p.m., and don’t forget to say hi to the ghost of Jabari for us. Tickets are $350, and reservations are required. Call 469-554-7445 for more information or visit dallaszootodo.com.
