Barney has played an influential role in the lives of Americans. Not the big purple dinosaur or Neil Patrick Harris’s character from How I Met Your Mother. No, no. We’re referring to the dog of Former President George W. Bush. Yes, dog, cats, birds, and any and all critters have been a part of American history since they boarded Noah’s Ark. Now through Jan. 13, the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum will host the exhibit All Creatures Great and Small: Christmas at the White House 2002 to celebrate the important role animals play in the president’s home. There will be indigenous bird ornaments designed by an artist from all 50 states, replicas of pets from First Families, and Barney Cam, which is basically just your chance to get inside the life of Former First Dog, Bernard “Barney” Bush. Stop by the George W. Bush Presidential Center, 2943 SMU Blvd. It's open from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 12-5 p.m. Sundays. Entry is $16.
