The Stoneleigh Hotel -- pardon, the The Stoneleigh Hotel & Spa -- today announced that some fine new folks have come over to run the joint, which is currently in the midst of a $28-mil makeover, and if their names aren't familiar, their former places of employ certainly are. New Managing Director John Langston, whose name we've heard before, comes from the Driskill Hotel in Austin and was at both The Mansion on Turtle Creek and the Hotel Crescent Court as director of catering. The new director of sales and marketing, Gretchen Stofer Darby, pulled a similar shift for Hotel ZaZa in Dallas and Houston.

And chef David Bull, who's overhauling the restaurant at the Stoneleigh, is a top chef in need of little introduction. So here's one anyway, from the release: one of Food and Wine's Best New Chefs in 2003, nominee for the James Beard Foundation's Best Chef in the Southwest award, former bossman at the Driskills's acclaimed restaurant and a man strong enough to stick it out in Kitchen Stadium on Food Network's Iron Chef America. So there's one good thing about our being at the corner of Oak Lawn and Maple: We can walk to Bull's restaurant. And we will, when it opens in a few months, give or take. --Robert Wilonsky
