Luna's Tortilla Factory

With a strong work ethic and the help of family members, much can be accomplished. Luna's Tortilla Factory is proof. In 1924, one year after emigrating from Mexico, Maria Luna opened her legendary shop at the original Carolina Street location. Her son Francisco, at 19 years of age, took control of Tortilla Factory, expanding the business with the help of his children, two of whom still work for the company. Five generations later, Luna's has gone from producing 500 tortillas daily to 1,500 per hour and offering more than simple tortillas. The current menu includes tamales, some of which, like the cheese and jalapeño, must be ordered a day in advanced. Customers also enjoy fresh chorizo and masa. Among the weekend specials are menudo, chicharrones and lengua.
