Perhaps one of the most confusing American traditions is relying on a rodent to predict the end of winter. But that is precisely the holiday we are celebrating today. Groundhog Day arrives every February and like Phil Connors says in the namesake movie, "This is one time where television really fails to capture the true excitement of a large squirrel predicting the weather." Of course, you don't have to travel to Pennsylvania to learn Punxsutawney Phil's prediction (early spring!) and if you want to see a Groundhog, there's a talented one in town tonight and Wednesday, as part of the Amazing Acro-Cats show at the Texas Theatre.

Samantha Martin, the troupe's chief executive human, stopped by the Dallas Observer offices Tuesday with Garfield the Groundhog, an adorable little critter who showed off some of his tricks in our conference room. He disagrees with good ol' Phil though. According to Garfield? Winter's sticking around.

The Amazing Acro-Cats perform at the Texas Theatre at 7 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, then they head to Fort Worth Thursday through Saturday. Tickets are $23. More at circuscats.com.
