Bishop Kevin Farrell

A self-proclaimed Catholic for Change directs our attention this morning to the second joint statement from Bishops Kevin Farrell and Kevin Vann, who, as you'll no doubt recall, told their congregants on October 8 that “to vote for a candidate who supports the intrinsic evil of abortion or ‘abortion rights’ when there is a morally acceptable alternative would be to cooperate in the evil -- and, therefore, morally impermissible.” Farrell and Vann now insist they weren't endorsing anyone, merely clarifying Catholic doctrine. As in: "In fact, the Catholic Church does not support any political party over another because no political candidate or party has a platform that completely adheres to the teachings of the Church." --Robert Wilonsky
