Central Texas-style barbecue is such a beautiful thing. So much better than turkey, which is why it'd be just lovely to have one at the center of the table at the end of November. Alas, I couldn't even begin to prepare one.

Hang out with these guys on Sunday: Josh Smith of the Rangers (left) and Brandon Hurtado.

Brandon Hurtado and Oak Highland Brewery must have literally heard me thinking that. On Sunday, the founder and owner of the Texas Monthly Top 50 Barbecue Restaurant will host a BBQ Pitmaster Class at the North Dallas brewery. Texas Rangers Josh Smith will be at the event as well.
Hurtado's is sold at Globe Life Field during Rangers games, in addition to their home field just a few miles west of the stadium in Arlington. Hurtado's is also opening a new restaurant at the Dallas Farmers Market.
Tickets for the class are $75 each. Over the three-hour class, Hurtado will review how to select, trim and smoke a brisket. He'll also talk about how to create your own sauces and rubs. But that's not all, he'll also be doing a smoked blueberry cobbler for the holiday season.
Oak Highland Brewery is throwing in two free beers to boot.
First pitch is at noon.
