Let Happy Eating point you to the best happy hour food menus around. This week, we're getting our fancy on for considerably less at Ocean Prime.
Where: Ocean Prime, 2101 Cedar Springs Road When: 4 p.m.-7 p.m Monday-Friday The Scene: Highbrow happy hour would describe it best. It's definitely not for the ball cap- and shorts-wearing drinkers. The "Blu" lounge, or inside bar, is full of suits conducting business after hours. For a more relaxed experience, go outside for happy hour on the beautiful wrap-around patio. It's getting hot, but the plethora of ceiling fans will keep the heat at bay. The Deal: Spicy salmon bowl $9, truffled deviled eggs $5, truffle kobe sliders $12, calamari $9, king crab empanadas $7, Parmesan broiled oysters $9. The Con: Prices aren't as cheap as at other happy hours in town, but you get what you pay for here. Eat: Fish tacos $8. Parmesan truffle tries $6. Lushworthy: Gin is in. Try the subdued, yet refreshing, cucumber gimlet $7.
Bottom Line: Dinner here is not cheap. If you want to try the food and experience the restaurant, happy hour is a perfect option.
Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
