We Stop to Smell the Matcha and $11 Lattes at Le Bloom

This new cafe offers up stellar pastries, coffee and flowers, all in one spot. They also have Fronks (iykyk, apparently).

Uptown’s most talked-about new café isn’t just brewing coffee, it's brewing a scene.

Le Bloom opened as a flower cart in 2023 to inspire more Dallasites to indulge in fresh flowers. For two years, they hosted pop-up events, and finally, last month, they opened a brick-and-mortar location off of North Fitzhugh Avenue, across the street from Clifton Club.

And given a little more wiggle room, they added a cafe alongside the bouquet shop. The shiny new white and azure blue shop attracts Uptown girls like moths to a flame.

Inside the space is straightforward with a line of merch on the right wall, a few standing tables, and a blue and white color scheme throughout. Even the espresso machine, which we think is custom, sports the signature blue hue.

The nature of the shop seems to be grab-and-go due to the lack of seating, but if you're lucky, there are a few tables outside to stop and smell Le Bloom's roses.

The menu selection starts with classic espresso-based drinks that can be customized with an extra shot, syrups and alternative milks. Signature lattes are kept simple with Le Bloom's trinity: Layne's latte, Fronk's latte, and le seasonal, which is a rose matcha latte this June.

The tea selection, which includes a regular matcha latte, rounds off the menu. The pastries come from Doughregarde's, and are stellar; get one of everything you see.

The Fronks latte caught our eye with its mysterious description: "iykyk and if you don't you should try..." We most certainly did not know. Who is Fronk? Why does his latte cost $11? We needed to know.

Come to find out, Fronks is not a person, but an Austin-based nut milk brand. They make bottles of plant-based milks with organic and sprouted nuts like almonds and cashews, which is why there is a nearly $6 upcharge to have your latte made with it.

Unfortunately, they were sold out, but the barista told us that they're guaranteed on Fridays. We assume that's when they get a fresh shipment in, but get there early anyway because all the Hot Sculpt girls in their Lululemon sets line up early.

So instead, we opted for le seasonal matcha latte, which is made with rose syrup. However, we asked for it to be made with one pump of rose syrup instead of the usual few because overly sweet lattes are an epidemic in this country.

When the drink came out, the color of the matcha was a bold green, which is a tell-tale sign of high-quality and an ample amount of tea powder. There are plenty of coffee shops in Dallas, but only a few can get the matcha right, and this is one of them.

The straight espressos are pulled from ONYX coffee beans. Suppose you're unfamiliar with the roaster based in Rogers, Arkansas. It's one of the most awarded independent coffee roasters in the U.S. and frequently places in the top three in World Coffee Championships.

The most exciting items in Le Bloom's pastry case were a s'mores pop tart and a brulee orange ginger cream cheese danish. We're very fond of shops that source baked goods from local bakers instead of those nuclear microwaved croissants you find everywhere. Other options we saw this day were a small banana bread loaf, chocolate croissants and a circular blueberry situation that came close to being an impulsive add to the order.

Le Bloom has the aesthetic, the coffee and the sweet treats that will propel the coffee and flower shop hybrid into the neighborhood's new staple. It may already be just that.
