Some 24 restaurants, including Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, Winslow's Wine Cafe and Fletcher's Corny Dogs (yes!) will be featured at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Fort Worth Zoo's Third Annual Beastro tasting event.
But if looking at caged animals while getting in touch with your inner carnivore, herbivore or omnivore isn't enough entertainment for you, the event also includes live music from local variety cover band Time Machine! Oh, and also Better Than Ezra, those one-hit wonders with that "Ah ah ah ah ah ah ha, it was good" song that made turning on a radio such a risky endeavor back in 1995. Order before noon Friday and tickets are $85 (plus a $5 processing fee--you know, to cover the expenses incurred by the zoo in the process of selling you an $85 ticket). Otherwise, it's an even $100.
Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
