Berklee College Of Music Embarks on World Tour to Audition Students, Schedule Stops in Dallas
A degree from Boston's Berklee College of Music holds a lot of clout no matter what type of music you make. Saying you went to Berklee will raise eyebrows of folks involved in classical, indie rock, jazz, hip hop and just about any other genre of music.
And Berklee is scouring the world for talented new students for the fall 2012 semester. Who knows, maybe you're one of them.
So, if you're a wiz at the recorder or you can perfectly emulate Ringo Starr's drum solo on "The End," you might find this little bit of news interesting.
On December 8 and 9, and February 13 and 14, representatives from the school will be making a stop in Dallas as part of what they're calling the Berklee World Tour, during which they'll be auditioning potential students for the fall semester.
Applicants will also be eligible to receive a variety scholarships, including the Presidential Scholarship, the Jimmy Lyons Scholarship, The Africa Scholarship and the first ever Lollapalooza Endowed Scholarship, which aims to bring more rock musicians to the school. The winner of the scholarship will be announced at the 2012 Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago.
Stay tuned for more information on the location of the Dallas audition. For more information on applying to Berklee, check them out online. And just a heads up, playing Van Halen's "Eruption" on guitar at your audition will score you an honorary doctorate on the spot. Or, it should at least.
