Just got word from Lance Yocom at Spune Productions that Denton's own Doug Burr has been tapped to open up for Jay Farrar's Uncle Tupelo offshoot, Son Volt, on a five-day, five-city swing in February that will take Burr and the alt-country legends to Houston, Austin, Denton, Oklahoma City and Fayetteville (Arkansas). The Denton show will take place on Thursday, February 26, at Dan's Silverleaf.
It'll be a slightly more modest affair than fans saw this past weekend at Burr's Sons of Hermann Hall release show for The Shawl, however: Burr will perform his set with just one or two backing members (depending on the city) who'll play guitar, keys, pedal steel and banjo behind him.
As for how this tour got booked, Yocom explains: "I have been in talks with High Road Touring about Doug for a while. Timing did not work out for some opening slots on road shows in the past, but they contacted me about Burr doing these dates and it all worked out perfectly."
Tickets to the Dan's show, which will run ya $19, are already available for purchase through Dan's site. So, bust out those credit cards.
