We here at DC9 have been salivating over Kanye West's new single, "Power," pretty much all summer long. Why? Well, for a few reasons--namely, because the song is a beast, one of the best hip-hop tracks we've heard all year, but also because, yessir, it was produced by Dallas' own Symbolyc One, a longtime area producer and emcee, whose work with Kanye seems primed to break him out of the backpacker and underground hip-hop mold he's been encased in for so long.
(Also, the video was pretty amazing.)
So, on those notes, allow us to point you in the direction of the song's remix, which features a little help from Jay-Z and producer Swizz Beatz, all of whom help Kanye twerk the S-1 beat into an even more creative stew--albeit one that confusingly includes a snippet of Snap!'s "The Power" in its re-working. Fans of ESPN's old Jock Jams compilations will no doubt recall that "jam."
Anyway, give it a listen after the jump. No, not the Jock Jams song--the Kanye song that uses it.
