Normally the prospect of sitting out at a show at Gexa Energy Pavilion in the middle of August is the stuff of night terrors — something akin to frying an egg on the sidewalk. But every so often there's a show that makes it worthwhile, and one of them just got announced this morning: A triple bill of Heart, Joan Jett and the Black Hearts and Cheap Trick.

Talk about swoon-worthy. This is some serious big-hair, classic-rock riffing action here. Like, bringing us down, down, down on our knees, ready to surrender action. (We could sing the lyrics and air-guitar here all day, so we'll stop while we're ahead. Suffice it to say that's the kind of show this will be.)

The trio of Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will be hitting more than 30 dates across the United States this summer, with the Dallas date landing on Thursday, August 18, which ought to be just about the hottest day possible. Then again, that's less than two weeks after the Dixie Chicks' reunion visits the venue formerly known as Starplex for its own highly anticipated reunion tour on August 5. So we might as well start getting used to the heat.

Getting all three of these acts in Dallas proper is a little bit unusual; Jett played American Airlines Center last year opening for the Who (where Miley Cyrus made a surprise appearance) and Cheap Trick recently visited The Bomb Factory, but it's rare to see Heart come any closer than one of the across-the-border casinos.

Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. next Wednesday, January 22, at livenation.com.
