No. 70: Shredded Pork Sandwich at Mojitos

Cuban food is seriously underrated and underrepresented in the Lone Star State, though a really good Cuban sandwich made with fresh-grilled bread hits the spot for a quick lunch.

For several months, I've followed former DMN food critic Bill Addison's suggestion by enjoying the Cuban sandwiches at Mojitos in Frisco (formerly Caribbean Café). Every time, the sweet proprietor, Carolina, has tried to steer me from the Cubans to the shredded pork sandwich, claiming that it's even better. Finally, on my most recent Frisco foray, I gave in. It was a simple affair, merely pork and cheese on grilled French bread, yet so luscious and flavorful that I don't think I could ever inhale another Cuban from Mojitos again. Surrounded by crisp fries and served with a marvelous Cuban bread starter, all you need is a carafe of ice tea, and you're in heaven. Or maybe Havana.
