North Texas has several great spots for trick-or-treating, including the Deerfield neighborhood in Plano and downtown McKinney. Instagram account DallasPartyOf2 put together a list with some great options:
Just like on the fashion runways, some definite trends are happening in Dallas this Halloween season. There’s no denying we are reaching peak plastic skeleton territory. It’s not enough to buy a giant Home Depot skelly and plunk him in the yard. Even two giant figures walking a skeleton dog approach ho-hum territory. Instead, your good bones need to have a great concept, and we found a few.
Another trendy motif? The Halloween freak show. A plethora of creepy creatures jammed into different tableaus seems to a big crowd-pleaser, and the combination clearly doesn’t need to make sense: mad scientists, grim reapers, inflatable pumpkins, evil babies, werewolves — just stick ‘em out there for maximum spookitude and call it a day.
With these two themes popping up from Plano to Highland Park, the homeowner who chooses something more minimalist or refined stands out. We hope this roundup of décor will inspire you to try something strange and unusual for your own 2025 decorations.
Fright Night Lights
3325 Singleton Trail, Plano
The owners of this home go all out, year after year. You can practically see the orange and purple lights strewn throughout the trees from a mile away. You’ll find hundreds of pumpkins, skeletons, spiders, and zombies hanging above your head and displayed on the ground. Just be prepared for a line of other suburban horror fans who want to get up close and personal for selfies with the display.
Monster Mash-Up
3329 Landershire Lane, PlanoJust around the corner from Singleton is another ghoul-full creature feature. This cluster of creeps has so much content that the owners had to build a shed on the property to hold it all. But what we like best is the interactive quality — a few days before Halloween, family members were already dressed in costume, hiding among the characters to jump out and scare visitors.

This home takes Halloween so seriously that they have "actors" interacting with visitors.

Real-Life Horror
6215 Deloache, Highland Park
What’s scarier than the potential the U.S. will slide into fascism? We’d say nothing, but tell that to the owners of this giant mansion in Highland Park. Already drawing fans from around the globe, the super-sized display includes 22 (count ‘em) giant figures, including pumpkin heads, ghouls, tree men and those ubiquitous giant skeletons. But that’s not what’s REALLY scary. The inflatable Donald Trump and signs saying “My dog is smarter than Harris” are what chills us to the bone. Let’s hope they have the decency to give full-sized candy bars.
Killer Clowns
6829 Deloache Ave.Not far from the MAGA nightmare house in Preston Hollow is the home of an interior designer with killer style. With scary clowns arranged into a Hollywood-level of sophisticated production, this home lighs up the whole street and is a real treat for trick-or-treaters. Come one, come all to this creepy circus.
Musical Maniacs
5415 Merrimac Ave.
The M Streets are always a good bet for trick or treating, and 5415 Merrimac is an essential stop. Owned by a local couple who love music, the annual display differs from year to year to reference pop stars, hit songs and musical puns. This time, we’ve got homages to Taylor Swift, Diddy and Duran Duran, with an especially fun tableau for “Murder on the Dance Floor.” Rock on!

Here's reason enough to get a driver's license: to get to this Olivia Rodrigo display in Dallas.

A Potter-rific Display
Bryan Parkway and Beacon Street
Handcrafted of cardboard and wood, an incredibly detailed recreation of Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley is unveiled each year in Old East Dallas. With buildings Olivanders and Hogwarts as well as the Forbidden Forest and Knockturn Alley, this place, with its 21 shops, one school and a forest, is magical for kids of all ages but ideal for the littles who might be scared of monsters and ghouls. From Oct. 31 to Nov. 2, aspiring witches and warlocks get a mini wand from Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes, a Gringott gold coin and Honeydukes candy. Muggles are encouraged to donate to the Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center in return for this free enchantment.
Graveyard Smash
5703 Swiss Ave.The grand houses of Swiss Avenue serve haunted mansion allure year-round. Still, the front-lawn cemetery of the historic Harris-Savage-McAlester House really sells it with multiple headstones, dual giant skeletons and a creepy devil head peeking out from the upper window. As a place to embrace your eternal rest, you could do much worse than this elegant abode.

Dallas homes went all out this Halloween, such as this graveyard smash on Swiss Avenue.

Team Spirits
6866 and 6855 Clayton Ave.
We’re not sure if the neighbors who own these two Lakewood houses are friends or rivals, but either way, trick-or-treaters benefit. Embracing that hodgepodge of monsters that are so popular this year, the facing yards offer a little bit of something for everyone, from not-so-spooky inflatables to sax-playing skellies and classic Hollywood monsters.
Infant Attack
Lakewood Boulevard and Pearson Drive
This house proves that sometimes all you need for a big scare is a good idea writ large. An army of evil inflatable babies climbs up the trees, peeks through the windows and advances across the lawn. The owners have a sense of humor, too— they’ve already tacked up a sign saying “Voted Worst Display in Lakewood,” but with its simplicity and repetition, it’s actually one of the best.
The Juice is Loose
1414 Lansford Ave.
We’ve already extensively covered the seasonal efforts of Halloween King Steven Novak, but it bears repeating. His evil Beetle Claus/Santa Juice display for this year is already the hit of Instagram, and based on the fact he’s playing holiday music as a backdrop, hopefully, we’ll get to enjoy it through Christmas.
Creepy Clown Town
1430 Kessler Parkway
Long before It, even cheerful clowns have terrified generations of children. The owners of this house tap into that primal fear with pretty much every circus-themed animatronic offered by Spirit. But the best part? The shape-shifting prankster himself peeks out from the sewer drain, tempting curious kids with a red balloon. We all float down there, y’know.
