OK, everybody, let's sing! "Oklahoma, where the storms come roarin' down the plains/And the trailer parks fly just like larks/And we pee our pants ev'ry time it rains." Hah! We kid you, Oklahoma. Loves ya. You're a proud state that has made many fine cultural contributions to our nation--chiefly amateur videos of cows being whipped into the air while unseen voices shout "Gidown, Darryl, gidown!" Where would basic cable be without you? What other state has highway signs that warn "Do not drive into smoke" because, apparently, this is a frequent safety issue? Truly, we appreciate our neighbor to the north, because without you, only Mississippi and Alabama stand between Texas and the bottom of the conservative barrel. WaterTower Theatre and the Dallas Wind Symphony pay homage to the Sooner State on Friday and Saturday in Addison Circle Park with a concert version of the Broadway classic Oklahoma!, one of the gayest musicals of all time. (Take that as you will.) The park is at 15650 Addison Road. Gates open at 7 p.m., and performances start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Call the WaterTower Theatre box office at 972-450-6232.
Fri., Aug. 29, 8 p.m.; Sat., Aug. 30, 8 p.m., 2008
