There are McDonald’s all over the world, but that doesn’t mean you should eat there when you’re off the beaten path. Sure, that meal may be happy, but we bet the local cuisine would make you happier. Mark DeCarlo agrees and, as part of the 2011 Travel and Adventure Expo, hosts an audience-participation cooking challenge in line with his Travel Channel show Taste of America with Mark DeCarlo, where he seeks the greatest in home cooking and handed-down culinary tales. DeCarlo will also host the “Fiery Foods Challenge,” featuring three local chefs who will bring the heat with their recipes. The Fiery Foods Challenge takes place 1:30p.m.-3:15 p.m. Saturday, and DeCarlo’s interactive cooking class and competition is 2 p.m.-3 p.m. Sunday. The 2011 Travel and Adventure Show runs 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday at the Dallas Convention Center, 650 Griffin St. Tickets are $9 online and $15 at the door.
