Brooklyn singer/songwriter Kevin Devine delicately walks the line between the personal and the political, and his nearly decade-long career has seen him signed and dumped by a major label while still maintaining a dedicated following.
And Brother's Blood, Devine's recently issued fifth effort, may well be his best yet, offering up folksy melodies and penetrating lyrics that rarely miss the mark--songs like "All of Everything, Erased" and "Another Bag of Bones" are insightful nuggets that never get too maudlin. Recalling the ramshackle charm of vintage Paul Westerberg (albeit with a more radio friendly charm), Devine's music is both pleasant and engaging; and that's no small feat.
Joining him on tonight's bill are Phoenix's Miniature Tigers., Brooklyn's Brian Bonz and the Dot Hongs and DFW's own Sarah Jaffe. Doors open at 6.
