Doyle Davidson is an old-fashioned kind of guy who likes to write love letters. To married women, yeah, but still.
Water of Life preacher Doyle Davidson has been posting weird "messages to Lisa" again, including one that seemed to signal a possible change in his "marital" status.
As Dallas Observer readers know from "The Devil and Doyle Davidson," the Plano-based televangelist has posted numerous messages to Lisa Staton, a woman he claims God gave to him. (Never mind that she already has a lawful wedded husband named J.R. Staton.)
On July 4, D.D. posted a message to Lisa on his Web site saying that since she insisted on being intimate with J.R., he was free to take a third wife. (Davidson's first wife died several years ago.) The next day, Davidson decided that wasn't right and hightailed it back to his one-and-only.
On the air, Davidson has been acting even odder than usual. Last week, he spent about five minutes at the beginning of his program in a prayer-turned-mantra, repeating over and over, "Bless you Lord, bless you Lord..." with the congregation chiming in. Five minutes is a long time on television.
During his sermons, Davidson has been talking about going to Israel. He seems willing to take his wife and the "devil" she's living with and even bought the devil a first-class plane ticket. Message to Lisa Posted: July 4, 2006 Dear Lisa, On June 20, 2005, you sent me an email telling me you were no longer my wife in the Spirit. You also sent me another email telling me that JR deserved a good wife, and you were going to be the best wife you could be to him. To be a good wife you had to have sex with him. To have sex with him you would be committing adultery. Matthew 19:9 states, "And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery." Lisa, you have gone into sin and are committing adultery. According to the scripture and the mind of the Spirit, I am free to take a third wife. If the Lord directs me to take a third wife, I will obey and you will be left out and remain in sin. Love you, Doyle
Message to Lisa July 5, 2006 Dear Lisa, I am sure you recall the summer of 2004, how you informed me that I was an unbelieving husband and you were a believing wife, and you were going to sanctify me. I am sure you remember saying that there was a kingdom in me and a kingdom in you, and the kingdom in me had to go. I am sure you remember after you challenged me and I accepted your challenge what kind of affliction and persecution came against me. After I posted the message on my web site last night, that because of your immorality I was free to take another wife, there has been a great overcoming in my life. I have no desire to have another wife. God gave you to me. My desire is clear and that is to set you free from the powers of the devil that has led you to do destructive things. God Bless You, Doyle
July 7, 2006 Dear Lisa, I know that your spirit knew that this day would come and that your spirit would bear witness with the truth. It has been made clear to me by the Spirit of God that you got lifted up in pride and haughtiness. Your pride enabled Satan to lie to you and deceive you, and you believed the lies. Proverbs 29:23 states, "A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit." Your pride in a small way made you a spectacle unto the world. If you would have humbled yourself as I told you to, this would have never happened. I spoke by the Spirit of God to you and told you what you needed to do, but you refused. You called me a rebellious and a lying prophet. You never considered that you had yielded your members as weapons of unrighteousness unto sin when you were speaking to me. I will not restate all of your sins, they have been declared earlier, but I will restate this: God gave you to me as my wife and you know that. You have confessed that publicly and certainly confessed it before God. I have kept as low a profile as I thought correct up to now. I did respond to your June 2005 email with a small warning when I said, Lisa you won't get away with this. You obviously do not believe the authority that I have as an apostle and prophet of Jesus Christ, and that authority extends to you and many others throughout the world.... Over the years, I learned to do what God taught us through Paul's writings as recorded in verse 10 and during these years God has strengthened me in my inner man by his Spirit. Ephesians 3:16, "That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might (Greek: dunamis meaning power) by his Spirit in the inner man..." I am sure that my God has humbled me, and that I would bewail you and many others that have sinned already, and have not repented of the uncleanness, fornication, and lasciviousness which you all have committed. July 10, 2006 Dear Lisa, I am sure that you remember in the 1980's when you came to Water of Life. I was speaking one Sunday morning saying that your favorite preachers were not of God, and you came up and challenged me. Well Lisa, the words that I spoke were true and have become more and more apparent to be true as the years past. You are blinded by the beam that is in your eye, and you cannot see what God wants. You have chosen to live with a man that is an unbeliever, and you are yoked together with an unbeliever. God had mercy on you and gave you to me as my wife.
