There are as many versions of the story of Little Red Riding Hood as there are matador pants in Prince's closet. There have been multitudinous attempts to put a fresh spin on this fairy tale. The most famous is by the Brothers Grimm in the 1800s. It has the wolf swallowing Grandmother and Red Riding Hood whole until the woodsman slices the wolf open and sets them free. Pretty graphic for a "children's story." Frankly, this tale has been retold and translated so many times it's like that "Aristocrats" joke. There are versions in 48 languages, all with their own spin on the story. The amazing comic book Fables even has the "Big Bad Wolf" as the sheriff of a town inhabited by fairy tale characters. Dallas is in for a special treat this holiday season when Theatre Britain presents its own unique twist on this timeless tale. Little Red Riding Hood is a traditional British panto, a centuries-old type of theater typified by broad humor, wacky characters and audience participation. It's a raucous good time for everyone there. So bring the kids and the grandparents to Theatre Britain's unique presentation of Little Red Riding Hood at KD Studio Theater, 2600 N.
