There’s way more to Latino fashion than stereotypes suggest. It’s an often overlooked branch of a highly competitive industry, a branch that is constantly shouldered out by long-standing labels. But that is changing. Top Latino designers including John Dunn from Puerto Rico, Yirko Sivirich from Peru and Camilo Alvarez from Columbia are taking over the runways and proving that their styles are for everyone, and their backgrounds are to be celebrated. You’ll get a chance to experience that on Thursday, at the sixth annual Latino Fashion Week. It’s a full-scale runway affair featuring work by totally famous, but also up-and-coming Latino designers, at Lofty Spaces, 816 Montgomery St. Cocktails start flowing at 6 p.m. and the runway show starts at 7:30. Tickets are $45 and available now at latinofashionwk.com.
