Eye in the Sky

Have you ever been picnicking on a beautiful and breezy summer afternoon, enjoying a nice cheese sandwich and conversing with your significant other when suddenly, out of nowhere, a bird craps in your hair? Sadly enough this happens to thousands of innocent people every year, sabotaging joggers and ruining sand volleyball matches worldwide. But this tragedy should not keep you from enjoying the many places of aviary splendor that Dallas has to offer. If you feel up to the risk of dodging flying poo, then Texas Discovery Gardens at Fair Park has just the experience to reward your courageousness. “Flying High with the Birds and Butterflies” is a one-day mishmash display of exotic butterflies and unique birds from around the world. Local butterfly expert Ernie Ryan will be on hand to offer his insights to all attendees. A program headlined by the Mack Daddy of all winged creatures, the falcon, will run twice during Saturday's four-hour event. So if you're up for some bird-watching and talking to a guy named Ernie, visit the gardens from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Call 214-428-7476 or visit texasdiscoverygardens.org.
Sat., July 22, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
