Between concerts the entertainment options for ancient Dallas stoners were frequently limited to midnight movies and the occasional laser light show at the planetarium. Those nostalgic for simpler times -or curious about the ways of their ancestors- can dig out their jean jackets, scrape the shake off of some King Crimson LPs and head over to The Texas Theatre (231 Jefferson) 9:00 PM Friday, August 22nd for Dark Side of the Rainbow, the legendary audio/visual mashup of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon and the 1939 classic The Wizard of Oz. You too can relive loitering in a parking lot and tripping out on the irony of getting high to go see a movie that's totally an allegory about drugs, man. Watching this mash-up at home has nothing on the apophenia inducing impact of seeing it really big and really loud. The trick is to time it so you're peaking about the time Dorothy lands in Oz and "Money" kicks in so your brain compensates for the diminishing synchronicity. Tickets to ride are $10.50 visit www.theteaxastheatre.com.
