During the holiday season last year, I visited my in-laws and was treated to the DVD of whatever "blue-collar" comedian was hot at the time. I don't remember the comedian's name or even a single joke, but I do remember deciding that I must not have been blue-collar enough to really appreciate it. I also remember wondering how many people really liked this stuff. Well, comedian Rodney Carrington might like to argue that a lot of people really like his contribution to the comedy genre. So much so that his latest CD, a greatest hits compilation, just recently went gold. That's right—many, many people bought a recording of Rodney talking about mechanical sheep, Baptist revivals, morning wood and titties 'n' beer. You know, the kind of tales one might tell after a successful weekend in Fort Worth. Comedy Central might also want to pipe in about the popularity of this brand of entertainment, as they will be recording Carrington's two-day run at the Majestic for an upcoming special. Maybe next year the in-laws and I will be treated to Carrington's rendition of "Don't Look Now (Your Momma's Got Her Boobs Out)" or the crowd-pleasing "Letter to My Penis." Rodney Carrington appears at the Majestic Theatre, 1925 Elm St., 7 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $39.95. Call 214-880-0137.
