Hey, we didn't say it. The 73-year-old mayoral candidate does in his new TV spot that debuted yesterday. And since we're giving mayoral campaign ads plenty o' play here at Unfair Park, we figured we'd slap it up here, in the interest of equal time. God knows it's far better than Wells' previous hostage-situation videos, not to mention Gary Griffith's mash note to Rudy Giuliani. But as Dave Levinthal points out in The Dallas Morning News this morning, Wells doesn't mention in his spot just how much Wells' proposed anti-crime district's gonna cost: $50 to $100 million of your hard-earned, funded through either a sales tax or property tax hike. "Tough love," indeed. --Robert Wilonsky
