There's a lot of stupid stuff floating around the Internet A&E's decision to suspend Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson from the reality show for going public with his personal views on sin.

"Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there," he told GQ. "Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men."

A lot of it's being said by conservative politicians like Steve Stockman, eager to score points by decrying the liberal tyranny. But nothing that's been put out there has been quite so stupid as what state Senator Dan Patrick, a Republican candidate for lieutenant governor, said on Facebook this afternoon:

"This is an exciting time for Christians. God is speaking to us from the most unlikely voice, Phil Robertson, about God's Word," Patrick writes. "God is using pop culture and a highly successful cable TV show to remind us about His teaching. God has used unlikely people in the Bible before to share his Word throughout history. He is doing it again. Phil's words will reach more people than any preacher or conservative leader could. It's clear God is speaking to us and I find it exciting."

So when Robertson says "It seems like, to me, a vagina -- as a man -- would be more desirable than a man's anus", or when he describes blacks in pre-civil rights Louisiana as "singing and happy," that's God talking.

And when Patrick endorses Robertson's comments? He's trolling for emails to put in his campaign database.
