A good Friend of Unfair Park just called with some sad news, at least for those of us who grew up in North Dallas: The Holiday Inn at Meadow Central -- which, on some weekend nights in the 1980s, used to look like the set of a John Hughes movie -- is no longer a Holiday Inn. Happened, oh, a whole hour ago, Unfair Park discovered after calling what's now known as ... the Meadow Inn. The woman who answered the phone says she's not sure why the owner of the hotel off Central Expressway terminated the deal with InterContinental Hotels Group, but they're currently in the process of eradicating all vestiges of the original joint. At the moment, there's a temporary banner draped over the Holiday Inn sign.

We've left messages with IHG's Holiday Inn publicist. But "first Chili's, now this," says our bummed-out Friend, who's currently on his way to pour out a bottle of Boone's Farm in the parking lot for his dead homie. --Robert Wilonsky
