Support the independent voice of Dallas and help keep the future of Dallas Observer free.
Barack Obama's campaign has, at long last, announced the time and place for his Wednesday shindig in downtown Dallas: It'll take place at 11:30 a.m. at Reunion Arena, with doors opening at 10:30 a.m. Seems his local folks' wishes were granted: Told you this morning they were hoping for a big event rather than the town hall-style meet-and-greet -- because a smaller event at a more intimate venue would have required tickets. This one's a first-come, first-served free-for-all -- and, ya know, it's just nice to see someone's getting some use outta the all-but-neglected Reunion Arena, which of late has played host to things like "Monster Jam" and "Stream Energy Event." --Robert Wilonsky
Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
