Last year's Dallas Observer Music Awards, if you don't mind us saying, were pretty amazing. The winners were pretty great, the nominations on point, the ceremony a great time and, oh, the showcase.
Yep, last year's DOMA showcase was especially awesome, with Deep Ellum just feeling overrun with local music support -- and even more so once the sun went down and the 105-degree temperatures of the daytime started to dip.
Really, in our minds, the heat was the only thing that held the event back from being perfect. 105 degree temperatures are no joke, and, bless Lucero, Jonathan Tyler & The Northern Lights, The Secret Machines and The Cool Kids for trying, but their outdoor performances in direct sunlight clearly suffered a bit as a result.
Which is why we're so excited to make this announcement: After toiling away a few years in the heat of Dallas summers, we're moving the DOMAs out of the summer and into the fall. This year's showcase will take place on Saturday, October 15, and the ceremony will take place on Tuesday, October 18.
And that's pretty much it as far as we've got for details at the moment. But we thought you'd like to know. So, y'know, there you go. Carry on.
