Turns out the announcement last month that Deep Ellum venue La Grange was going up for sale isn't the new only development at the bar/venue/restaurant: Today, the owners of the room, Rob and Stephanie Schumacher, have announced that they've officially brought area promoter and talent buyer Scott Beggs in to partner with them in their business as a talent buyer and venue manager.

"We are thrilled and honored at the same time," says Stephanie Schumacher says in a press release announcing the partnership, which can be read in full after the jump. "The fact that someone as highly regarded as Scott sees the potential in the venue - and for him to tell us we have set the right foundation - we couldn't be more excited. LaGrange has been a labor of love for us, and we couldn't have asked for a better match to come to the table."

Last month, Schumacher said that she and husband Rob had reached an "exhaustion point" in running the venue.

Today, Schumacher tells DC9 that, while little has changed as far as the room being up for sale, this new development should take a lot of the work burden off of her family's shoulders.

"It's always for sale," she says. "But until the right offer comes in, this take a huge burden of time off of our hands. We knew he can do this 10 times [more easily than we can]."

Beggs has a long history of booking punk and rock bands to Deep Ellum, having spent time as a talent buyer at Trees and Gypsy Tea Room. More recently, he booked Nerkomantix to play a sold-out show at La Grange.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: NEW STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP UPGRADES LAGRANGE

17 October 2011 - DEEP ELLUM, DALLAS, TX - Deep Ellum music venue, LaGrange, has cemented an exciting collaboration by partnering with long-time Dallas concert promoter, Scott Beggs.

Beggs is recognized as being one of the area's most respected talent buyers and promoters and he will, now, bring his long history of success to LaGrange. Most recently, his skills as an independent promoter brought record attendance to the venue by booking horrorbilly punk band: The Nekromantix.

"We are thrilled and honored at the same time," says Stephanie Schumacher a principal owner of the Elm Street venue. "The fact that someone as highly regarded as Scott sees the potential in the venue - and for him to tell us we have set the right foundation - we couldn't be more excited. LaGrange has been a labor of love for us, and we couldn't have asked for a better match to come to the table."

Schumacher had recently announced LaGrange was up for sale, thus catching the attention of Beggs. Through various conversations, it was decided that this Deep Ellum mainstay (one Beggs calls "the perfect size to pack") was going to be best pushed forth with a partnership scenario.

A music enthusiast and seasoned talent buyer for more than a decade, Beggs brings a new wealth of knowledge and expertise to the venue which has been considered by many to be an integral part in the recent upswing of Deep Ellum night life.
