It was a big year in North Texas culture. It seems like a decade since we declared Dallas the “Karen Capital of the World” in 2020, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t have misbehaving citizens go viral this year. In fact, we recently compiled a list of the wildest viral stories of 2024 and were delighted to look back and delve into the fond memories of viral cybertruck stunts and Instagram-famous chickens.

Our most-read stories, however, hardly overlap with that list and instead center on subjects such as Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan angering Fort Worth residents, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders’ director angering fans and TCU Player Sedona Prince receiving death threats over allegations of abuse. May 2025 bring peace to all.

Here are most-read culture stories in 2024:

10. DFW Lost a Crazy Number of Movie Theaters This Week

Editor's Picks

By Ismael M. Belkoura
In June, we reported that within 12 hours, two movie theater chains announced they would close locations in North Texas. More followed that news. Turn off that streaming app and watch a movie the way the Lumière brothers intended.)

9. Texas Gets Its First Korean Scalp Spa in Carrollton

By Mollie Jamison
We are probably the reason TikTok is getting banned: We just can’t stop trying things recommended by the app’s users. When the trending Korean spa treatment debuted in North Texas, writer Mollie Jamison headed to CHADAM Hair Lounge and CO2 Head Spa in Carrollton to tell us why we need to worry about upkeep on one more body part.

6. Yolanda Hadid’s Fort Worth Ranch Is Getting Roasted Online

Related

By Carly May Gravley
The OG “Almond Mom” and Real Housewives star bought a Fort Worth ranch, presumably to be closer to supermodel daughter Bella (who lives there with her cowboy boyfriend). Hadid’s home’s over-the-top Western style really united the internet: Everybody absolutely hated it.

5. Dallas Has More Than 92,300 Millionaires. Here’s Where To Meet Them.

By Carly May Gravley and Eva Raggio
After a report in February announced that Dallas is home to 92,300 millionaires, we set out to do God’s work: letting singles digging for love and gold know at which churches, restaurants and even college campuses they’re most likely to meet them.

2. Fans Are Coming Hard for Cowboys Cheerleader Director After Netflix Series

By Alex Gonzalez
After the premiere of seven-part Netflix series America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, fans learned that the women on the squad don’t make diddly squat – at least compared to the multimillion-dollar machine known as the Cowboys. Viewers immediately came for Cowboys Cheerleader director Kelli Finglass’ head.

1. North Texans Are Already Tired of Taylor Sheridan’s New Spinoff

By Diego Hernandez
It seems Taylor Sheridan is so engrossed in the Wild West that he forgot most of us drive cars to get to work. In November, we wrote about the Yellowstone creator’s new spinoff series, The Madison, shooting in Fort Worth and angering residents due to road closures and traffic.
