If you like bidding on things, you’re going to want to grab a pen and paper and scribble down the words Noche de Rumba. It’s a date auction for one evening only and it’s in the Rose Room at S4. Surprise! Last year’s event was such a huge success, they brought it back and added the words “Second Annual” in front. Noche de Rumba is presented by the LULAC Young Adult Rainbow Council and hosted by the fiercest drag queen you know, Jenna Skyy. All the auctionees will be locals with dancing pecs and quarter-bouncing butts. Bid just right and they’ll be yours all night long. Not until the break of dawn, but baby steps, people, baby steps. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door from 7 to 10 p.m. Thursday at S4 (3911 Cedar Springs Road). You can find just about anything you want to know at http://bit.ly/13xE0Pb.

Keep the Dallas Observer Free... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we would like to keep it that way. Offering our readers free access to incisive coverage of local news, food and culture. Producing stories on everything from political scandals to the hottest new bands, with gutsy reporting, stylish writing, and staffers who've won everything from the Society of Professional Journalists' Sigma Delta Chi feature-writing award to the Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism. But with local journalism's existence under siege and advertising revenue setbacks having a larger impact, it is important now more than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" membership program, allowing us to keep covering Dallas with no paywalls.
