In what will surely become one of the most impressive displays of spandex you’ve ever seen, Xanadu will skate onstage at the WaterTower Theatre, into your heart, do a few laps and then skate back to the realm of the gods, where clearly it belongs. Inspired by the book and then the film, Xanadu features award-winning songs by Electric Light Orchestra and tells the tale of Kira and Sonny. Kira is a muse sent to Earth to inspire struggling artist Sonny, but alas, she falls in love. Trouble is, by the power of Zeus their love is forbidden. Whatever will become of these two? Will they couples-skate off into the sunset or is it a tragic solo skate from here on out? Guess you’ll have to head to the WaterTower Theatre, 15650 Addison Road, to find out. Opening night is at 7:30 Monday. Tickets start at $25 and are on sale now at watertowertheatre.org. Xanadu runs through August 18.
Mondays, Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: July 29. Continues through Aug. 18, 2013
