A group of local Trekkies are boldly going where no one has gone before on Friday, as the U.S.S. Navras presents a costumed celebration honoring our Earthly military. The officially sanctioned USO party is sci-fi themed, so if you’ve ever wanted to dance with a sailor while dressed as chain-mail Leia, this is your chance. Adding to the peculiarity of the event is its location, with the evening of reality/fiction cross-pollination being held at Louie Louie’s Dueling Piano Bar in Arlington (298 Linclon Square). Klingon sing-along, anyone? There will be celebrities, of course. So you can meet Peter Mayhew (you know him as Chewbacca), Anne Lockhart (Lieutenant Sheba of Battlestar Galactica) and more while honoring the night’s real heroes: the United States military. The intergalactic mixer begins at 7 p.m. and there’s a $5 cover at the door, but proper dorks will use Jedi mindtricks to navigate that monetary exchange. Visit ussnavras.com/uso.
