Daryl Johnston Opens Smiling Moose Deli

The MOOOOOOSE is dusting off the old cleats for one last tussle through the line. This time, however, he'll be on the other side with the plastic gloves on asking if you'd like white or wheat bread.

Daryl "Moose" Johnston is now part owner of a new sandwich shop (of course he's not making sandwiches, silly head), called Smiling Moose Deli, which is set to open on September 15 on Hebron Parkway one block west of Midway Road in Plano.

Out of Vail, Colorado, the Smiling Moose Deli actually had nothing to do with the former Cowboys fullback originally. He's just invested in this local franchise, and I suppose it's safe to say he'll vouch for their sandwiches.

The theme at the Smiling Moose Deli is healthy portions of fresh ingredients coupled with the warm fuzzy feelings of mountains, bear traps and puffy snow boots.

In addition to some hearty sandwiches, like the "Mighty Mo," which is an award-winning cheeseburger, they also serve breakfast all day, have many vegetarian offerings, and, even better, a Mini Mo Clubhouse, so the kids can go nuts while you space out texting for half an hour.

There are rumors of a potential "Moose sighting" of the three-time Super Bowl champ himself on the day of the grand opening. So, stay tuned, get your Sharpie ready and wax that chest.
