Hook, Line and Sinker Opens Second Location on Preston Road (Photos)

The longtime uptown seafood staple Hook Line and Sinker has opened a second location at 17602 Preston Road, a bit north of Keller Springs, in an old Taco Cabaña. The original seafood shack first opened on Lemmon in May of 1996.

Hook Line and Sinker is relic of uptown, prior to the area around it getting all uptowny. It's sort of the old beach bum sitting on the bench at the beach, watching all the hipsters swank past. While the area around it has completely changed, only a few of the old characters remain. (The Loon comes to mind.)

John Tuma with Hook, Line and Sinker tells City of Ate this second location might not be the last, but finding the right location is everything. And they actually picked up this spot after it sustained water damage from the freeze two years ago. The insurance claims got nasty and eventually Taco Cabaña gave up and moved down the road. After the place got fixed, Tuma picked it up.

The only real differences in the two spots are some additions to the beverage menu. Tuma, who works with the company that manages Urban Taco, has added the margaritas from Urban Taco, in addition to beer and wine. One other amenity: a drive thru.

"It's strictly for call-ins though," Tuma says. "An actual drive thru isn't really reasonable because we cook everything to order. But, if customers want to call things in like they often do at the Lemon location, they don't have to get out of their car to get it."
