Music blogs are so 2007, but no one's told that to Gorilla Vs. Bear. The Dallas-based blog is one of the few of its kind from the boom of the early 2000s, and if anything it looks like founder Chris Cantalini is making a push to expand in 2015 as the year nears its halfway point.
Having long kept a low profile in the local music scene outside of its annual festival at Granada Theater, GVB took over as one of the Red Bull promoters this year, has regularly championed rising local star Leon Bridges and now is expanding GVB Fest with a second party down in Austin. The lineup for the Dallas show, announced this morning, ain't half bad either.

Cantalini teased the announcement last week with a series of posts and a Sirius XM playlist that featured bands from the lineup. In fact, the lineup was initially supposed to be revealed last week, but now it seems clear why it was postponed: Headliner Jamie XX just announced a new North American tour this morning to coincide with his new album In Colours. The xx producer, who's also worked with Adele and Florence + the Machine, fits right in with the tastemaker-friendly bookings of the fest's previous installments, including Animal Collective's Panda Bear, who headlined last year.
The rest of the lineup includes Lower Dens, Tei Shei, Yumi Zouma and Prince Innocence. More bands look set to be announced before the show takes place later in the summer on Friday, July 31. The Austin show takes place the following night at The Mohawk -- so it's not surprise either to see that Transmission Events helped out with the booking this year as well.
