Doc, Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Bashful, Sneezy and Artsy? Calm down, our beloved Dopey isn't being replaced by an artistic hipster who only drinks black coffee, wears a beret and listens to French pop music while smoking a cigarette. Barry Whistler Gallery (2909 Canton St.) is simply putting on an art exhibit based on the Disney characters...sort of. The Snow White exhibit is a winter-inspired showcase displaying seven different artists from Dallas, Los Angeles, Marfa, Chicago, New York and France. Here's a preview of what you'll see: Chicago resident Raychael Stine dips (pun is definitely intended) into her fairy-tale side and bases her paintings on abstract compositions, while Dallasite Peter Ligon is inspired by residential areas in the winter. Snow White will hang at the Barry Whistler Gallery until January 9. For more information, call 214-939-0242 or visit barrywhistlergallery.com.
Wednesdays-Saturdays, 12-5 p.m. Starts: Dec. 12. Continues through Jan. 9, 2009
