Dallas is about to get scrutinized by one of the nation's leading dining critics.

In a call put out via Twitter this morning, the New York Times' chief restaurant critic Sam Sifton announced he was "Heading to Dallas" to "figure it out for those heading to Texas for Super Bowl."

Sifton's interests aren't purely gastronomical: In keeping with his reputation as a writer who lavishes as much attention on people as a previous generation of critics devoted to their plates, Sifton asked his nearly 37,000 followers for advice on "restos, food, sports, culture, etc."

Thus far, most of the suggestions have come in the first category: Helpful tweeps have steered Sifton to Screen Door, Bolsa, Craft, Sonny Bryan's (described as "not bad" and "the best we have to offer") and -- oddly, considering Sifton's hometown -- Jimmy's Food Store. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution's John Kessler notched a vote for Tei-An.

What do you think? Where else should Sifton go?
