Are you a Paris or a Nicole? Sonic's two new limited edition drinks will tell you.
The Simple Life was an early 2000s reality TV show that followed socialites Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie as they tried to do menial, average jobs like farm work, housekeeping and working at a camp. In case you weren't there for its iconic reign across Fox and E!, it premiered in December 2003 and ran through August 2007.
Twenty years later, the show is getting a reboot titled Paris & Nicole: Encore, which will be an update on the premise of the original show as they try to stage their two-person opera, “Sanasa", a word they made up in the original show.
To celebrate, they're making Sonic iconic (for a limited time).
In a promotional video shared by Business Wire, the two are filmed trying their eponymous drinks to come up with fab names for each. "Sliving the Dream," "The Businesswoman Special" and "Paging Dr. Richie" were scrapped before they unanimously agreed on something "even more iconic:" Paris and Nicole.
The Paris is described as "fruity and fun, slay all day." It's made with Sprite, dragonfruit syrup, lemon and lime and then topped with whipped cream and NERDS.
The Nicole is "sleek and berry sweet" and closer to a dirty soda. It has Dr Pepper, sweet cream, vanilla and real strawberries, topped with whipped cream and more strawbs. No pickles. We rejoice.
Sonic seems to be an unlikely collab, but Hilton and Richie have a long history with the fast-food chain. It was the socialites' very first job in The Simple Life. OK, so they only worked a shift. But that's not the point — it's the nostalgia.
If you know what a VCR is, order with caution. We checked the nutrition facts for each drink; there are 101 grams of sugar in Paris' drink and a more modest 75 grams in Nicole's. Maybe it doesn't matter as long as you're sliving (which is slaying living).
You can get either drink (medium only) for $3.99 at Sonic locations nationwide.
