Well, look, perhaps that headline's a little misleading -- I have no idea whether she'll actually show up on February 6, when the council chambers hosts the Texas Big City Mayors Meeting. (I did call; got voice mail.) But according to the schedule posted yesterday by the City Secretary's Office, from 10 a.m. till noon there will be a meeting of the Texas Clean Air Cities Coalition, formed in 2006 by Miller and Houston Mayor Bill White in an effort to stop the state from allowing coal-fueled power plants from getting the okee-doke.
Following that, you get two choices: a two-hour meeting during which the big-city mayors -- including, of course, Mayor Tom --- will discuss legislative initiatives dealing with the homeless and transportation, or a screening of Fighting Goliath: Texas Coal Wars narrated by Robert Redford and starring, among others, Laura Miller. Or, if you really want to watch the doc now and attend the mayors' meeting next Friday, the entire 34-minute short's available here absolutely gratis.
