We're sitting on a damn goldmine here in Dallas. Our artists are innovative, targeted and open to collaboration, a rare combination for any city. Tonight you'll experience the best of our most inventive contributors when nine different galleries, all of which cater to pushing through new methods and ideas, participate in East Dallas Gallery Day. One of the most prominent shows in the bunch happens at Plush Gallery, 918 Dragon St., where the annual Sleepy Dan showcase takes over. Twenty-two artists will present work complementing Sleepy Dan's signature cartoon-meets-street art brand, as well as fun new goodies and live screen printing by our favorite snoozer himself. That party runs from 6 to 9 p.m. and offers freebies to the first to take advantage of its awesomeness. You can't stop there. Oliver Francis, The Public Trust, Barry Whistler, Kettle Art, Kirk Hopper, WAAS, CentralTrak, 500X and the Reading Room all open their doors for this 'round town art buffet. Visit facebook.com/dtxgalleryday to work out your plan of attack. They're taking it easy on you by stretching out the hours; most places will be open from noon to 9 p.m., and food trucks will zip around like medics, providing on-the-go sustenance.
