President-elect Donald Trump signed an executive order in 2020 that declared the Chinese-owned app a national security threat, and he promised to shut it down. But, much like the infamous wall with Mexico, Trump put a hold on his plans. While he is now considering a new executive order to "save" the app, the Supreme Court is currently still upholding its Jan. 19 TikTok ban set into motion by a law signed by President Biden last year.
After hearing oral arguments about the law, the Supreme Court appeared inclined to uphold it, causing TikTok users everywhere to begin their period of mourning.
For years, a number of Dallas TikTokers have dedicated themselves to giving us the best Dallas content. Before TikTok is (maybe) gone for good, we pay tribute to our favorite Dallasites who have graced the app's algorithm with their videos.

Kay Poyner is one of the coolest, funniest and most unapologetically opinionated content creators out there right now. Poyner has bestowed her authentic “T girl wisdom” across TikTok since 2019, sharing personal takes and some additional shit-talking along the way. In addition to espousing insightful opinions on topics such as Gaza and trans rights, Poyner will also leave you in stitches with her ramblings on stalking vintage furniture and the dangers of cringey millennial Swifties.@ladymisskay_ BRAND NEW BYETCH

Sara Mize created @Dallaslovelist as a platform to share the best restaurants, bars and murals in the Dallas area. Mize finds these hotspots from local PR teams, the Dallas geotag on Instagram or just driving through neighborhoods like Bishop Arts and Deep Ellum to find new places popping up.“I film interior, exterior, cocktails and the food,” Miza says. Branding is essential to Mize; she always uses her brand’s colors — a palette comprising pink, orange, blue and yellow.

Some TikTok lifestyle influencers tend to share days full of adventure, but Connor Hubbard prefers to portray the experiences of the everyday man. As part of his “Normalize the Norm” movement, Hubbard has gone viral for posting videos that show the day in the life of a typical 30-year-old chill guy with a 9-to-5 corporate job. His stone-faced online persona makes for a monotonous, yet refreshing addition to anyone’s brainrot-riddled feed.@hubs.life A moment of calm in the chaos.. #lunchbreak ♬ som original - SpxMac

Keith Lee has been known as one of TikTok’s finest food reviewers long before his move to North Texas. But as of last fall, we’ve been able to proudly call him one of Dallas’ own. Lee, a former MMA fighter turned viral food critic, has gained nearly 17 million followers on the app for getting, trying and honestly rating local restaurants’ cuisine from 1 to 10. Lee has reviewed a number of DFW restaurants since his big move from Las Vegas, including Wicked Butcher and Soiree Coffee Bar.@keith_lee125 Wicked Butcher taste test would you try it ? #foodcritic @wickedbutcher ♬ original sound - Keith Lee

Sam Hamway, Dallas’ beloved heel-wearing realtor, has been a bright spot in a city full of rent struggles. Hamway began going viral last year for posting lighthearted videos touring low-budget rentals across the Dallas area. While she makes sure to point out the pros of each lot — roomy living spaces, in-unit appliances and affordable pricing — her honest reviews don’t gloss over the less appealing aspects of low-budget spaces, like missing doorknobs and the occasional dead roach. Hamway is on a mission to help Dallasites ease the challenges of pricey city living through affordable rentables and a few good laughs.@the_heeltor The biggest backyard I’ve seen in a rental! This duplex is a block away from the Lakewood Library and walking distance to Whole Foods, CAVA, Chipotle, CVS, Mi Cocina, and more. You can enjoy Dallas’s Santa Fe Trail or spend time at White Rock Lake, without sacfricing proximity to downtown. Originally listed at $1,450, the price dropped to $1,350 to find a tenant. The property just leased but if you’re looking to rent an affordable home in Dallas, you know who to call! Stephen Austin, known by his followers as “Old Man Steve,” is an 86-year-old fisherman and hat-wearing TikTok star who lives in Richland Hills. The golden-aged influencer has shown his 1.7 million followers that he is more than young at heart (and is most certainly NOT AI-generated, according to his bio). Old Man Steve shares the typical goings-ons of an old timer, like puzzling and weather updates. He also hosts a fan-favorite segment, “Magic Saturday,” where he amazes viewers by proving that you can, in fact, teach an old dog new magic tricks.@omsteve Hello and good morning y’all #fypシ #foryou #foryoupage #fyp #oldmansteve #tiktok #staysafeeveryone #bekindtoyourself #imreal ♬ original sound - Old Man Steve

Model-turned-influencer Nara Smith and her family left Dallas for the East Coast last fall, but we’ll still partially claim her for the number of viral moments that took place in her former Big D home. Recognized for her soothing voiceovers of from-scratch meals she creates in head-to-toe designer looks, Smith quickly became one of TikTok’s most popular momfluencers for “doing too much.” Love her or hate her, Smith made her mark on the soon-to-be-defunct-app by amassing over 11.4 million followers, which recently helped land her a spot at No. 4 on Rolling Stone’s 2024 most influential internet creators list.@naraazizasmith soo good! #easyrecipe #homecooking #fypツ #momtok #toddlersoftiktok #juice ♬ La vie en rose (Cover Edith Piaf) - 田东昱
