The fine folks at Live Nation have declared this week National Concert Week. As part of the celebration, they’ll offer more than a million tickets for shows across the country for the low, low price of $20 all-in. And while a double sawbuck is usually enough for a lawn seat at an Earth, Wind and Fire show, the tickets on offer during this promotion are kind of outrageous.
More than 60 shows from the various Live Nation venues in DFW are part of the National Concert Week promotion, with a surprising selection of genres and events available. Weezer, Willie Nelson, Pentatonix, Thirty Seconds to Mars and Tom Jones are just a few of the big names who’ll have $20 tickets during the promotion, which runs through May 8.
Shania Twain and Paramore both will both TV appearances to advertise this nationwide event, which will discount the tickets of more than 2,000 shows across the country. Both acts will also visit Dallas during this concert season, which ends Oct. 26. Live Nation is clearly flexing in its dominant position in the world of touring acts and high-capacity venues.
With tickets this cheap, a few headaches are sure to crop up. They’ll all likely go fast, especially considering the caliber of shows coming to Dallas this summer and fall, including the final run for the Vans Warped Tour on July 6. Shows by Ozzy Osborne, Alice Cooper and Marilyn Manson with Rob Zombie are also coming through.
And it’s not just concerts, either. Magician David Blaine will stop by May 31 at the Music Hall at Fair Park, and comedians Bill Burr and Kevin Hart will also make appearances in Dallas this year.
There’s something for just about anyone, and at 20 bucks, there’s no reason not to at least scroll through the next six months’ worth of concerts. A complete list of shows that are a part of the promotion can be found on the Live Nation website.
