We can all agree today that April showers don't bring May flowers, and stormy April was particularly unkind to Metro Diner as the bacon and eggs institution shuttered their doors last month. But the month wasn't completely clouded by these unfortunate closures, and several new, mostly casual, eateries opened their doors.
Restaurants Opening in April The Commissary, 1722 Routh St. -- John Tesar's new burger bar recently opened in One Arts Plaza and features wine on tap.
Judy's Burgers, 6006 Beltline Road -- The casual burger spot moved into the location left vacant by 12 Burgers.
Howard Wang's, 3223 Lemmon Ave. --The second branch of the popular Chinese restaurant opened last week and is delivering to the Uptown crowd.

Company Café, 2217 Greenville Ave. -- If you're craving gluten-free waffles or grass-fed steak and cage-free eggs, your new breakfast spot is waiting on Lower Greenville.
Gloria's, 600 N. Bishop Ave. -- The original location closed last month, but Oak Cliffers can still get their fix of Salvadorian food at the new location, which is housed in a renovated fire station.
Macho Nacho, 3930 Cedar Springs Road -- The new Tex-Mex restaurant replaces Hunky's Hamburgers.
The Marquee, 33 Highland Park Village -- Tre Wilcox's new digs in the Highland Park Village just opened this past Friday, just in time for date night.
Restaurants Closing in April Metro Diner, 3309 Gaston Ave. -- You can still visit the Oak Cliff location or relive the good ol' days of the Gaston outpost through our slideshow of the diner's final day.
Bronx Café, 3835 Cedar Springs Road -- The restaurant's now-empty quarters were purchased by Warwick Melrose Hotel, and rumor has it that the structure will be knocked down to make way for a parking lot.
Coming Soon RedFork Tavern --The New American restaurant, headed by former Craft chef Jeff Harris, was supposed to open last month on Fitzhugh, but the opening has been delayed.
