Now, along Front Street, parallel with the railroad track that runs through the middle of the city, there's a new business development anchored by a boutique hotel, The Rambler Inn. The hotel occupies the upper floor, with restaurants and retail spots on the ground level.
The self-service hotel (with a check-in like an Airbnb) is pristine white and, according to its website, channels outlaw country with a modern design. Rates range from $79 to $277. Fortunately, the city of Arlington enforces a train quiet zone through the downtown area, so while the place might feel trains rolling by, visitors won't be awoken by a whistle.

The Rambler Inn sits near the railroad track and has retail shops on the lower level.

The all-day breakfast spot known for its brunch and soul food dishes, Breakfast Brothers, is the one we're most excited about. Owners Rickey Booker and Jonathan Biley-Smith opened the first location a couple of years ago in Arlington, south of Interstate 20, then expanded to the Red Bird area. They've become popular for their southern-style brunch specialties, like catfish and French toast, buttermilk pancakes, red velvet waffles and wings. And superior service.
Booker says this location will be their largest yet and is what they will model future expansion after. He says to look for a home-like atmosphere with comforting dishes and mimosas.
This is a great and much-needed addition to Central Arlington — a solid place to hit before noon games. As soon as we get an opening date, we'll spread the word.
Blue Mint Thai Cuisine is also "coming soon" with staples like tom yum soup, pad see ew and pad Thai as well as more generally popular dishes (but not Thai), such as orange chicken. This restaurant already has two other locations: one in Mansfield and the other in Midlothian. I've heard the Thai dishes are above average. Blue Mint also has a stand inside Globe Life Field.
Another spot with a coming soon sign is Rocket Belly, a space-themed cafe and gift shop with self-serve bubble tea and desserts. This concept is from pre-teen Olivia Huynh, who became famous not only for being a young entrepreneur, but also because an astronaut visited her original (but now closed) space-themed spot along Pioneer Parkway in Arlington.
Just two blocks north of these new restaurants, Rodeo Goat has opened a new location. Along with Cane Rosso, Hurtados, Cartel Taco Bar and Four Kahunas Tiki Lounge, the area is taking shape.
